Getting to Barcelona

Barcelona has a major international airport just 12km from the centre of the city, with flights coming from Europe, America and the rest of the world.

There are also airports in Girona and Reus with bus links to Barcelona.

Over the past few years, a number of budget airline have begun flying to these three destinations from across Europe.

  • Airbus (A1)

    Airport - Plaza de Catalunya.

    Stops: Opposite terminals A, B (Arrivals) and C.

    Timetable: Monday to Saturday and public holidays: departures from airport, from 06:00 to 01:00; departures from Plaza de Catalunya, from 05:30 to 00:15. Buses run every 7 to 15 minutes, depending on the time of day. For more information regarding timetables and fares, we recommend you visit the website Entitat Metropolitana del Transport.

  • Train Renfe

    Renfe Line 10: The Line 10 suburban train links the airport with the city centre and the Sants and França train stations.

    Itinerary: Airport - Estació de França

    Stops: Airport - El Prat de Llobregat - Bellvitge - Barcelona Sants - Paseo de Gracia - Estació de França

    Journey duration: 32 minutes.

    Timetable: From the airport, from 06:00 to 23:44; from Estació de França, from 05:20 to 22:42. Every 30 minutes.

    Price: Single, 2.50 Euro; Bonotren (10 journeys), 18,85 Euro. Aeroport station falls within the integrated fare system (zone 1) of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area: T-Day, 5.25 Euro and T-10, 6.90 Euro.

  • Taxi

    Stops: Opposite terminals A, B and C.

    Price: Approximate rates from the airport on working days (from 07.00 to 21.00): to Plaza España, 14.90 €; to Plaza Catalunya, 17.20 €; to Sagrada Familia, 20.60 €. Approximate rates on Saturdays, holidays and at night (from 21.00 to 07.00): to Plaza España, 17.80 €; to Plaza Cataluña, 20.60 €; to Sagrada Familia, 24.50 €. These rates include the airport supplement. The luggage supplement is 0.90 € per item. The cost payable is as indicated on the meter. Users are advised to request a receipt.

Getting to the UAB Campus

The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona's central campus is in Bellaterra (Cerdanyola del Vallès), 20km outside Barcelona, between Sabadell and Sant Cugat del Vallès.

The UAB has other establishments in Sabadell (University School of Business Studies and University School of Computer Studies) and in Barcelona and Badalona (University institutes belonging to the Faculty of Medicine).

In Barcelona, the UAB-Casa de Convalescència building offers continuing-education classes in Health and Life Sciences.

Most of the schools approved by or linked to the UAB are in the city of Barcelona or on the campus in Bellaterra, but we also have schools in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Terrassa, Mollet del Vallès and Manresa.

  • Transport system

  • Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC)

    Line S2: Barcelona-Sabadell, station: Universitat Autònoma.
    In Barcelona, these trains stop at Catalunya, Provença, Gràcia, Muntaner and Sarrià.

    You can also take these trains from Sant Cugat, Sant Quirze and Sabadell, among other places.
    At Sant Cugat station, there is a connection with line S1 (Terrassa and Rubí). All trains to Sabadell, UAB or Barcelona stop at the University.

    The journey time to Barcelona is 30 minutes, and trains depart approximately every 10 minutes.

  • RENFE (Spanish National Railway Network)

    Line C7 - Cerdanyola Universitat station. From Barcelona you can take the train from Sants, Plaça Catalunya, Arc del Triomf and Sant Andreu Arenal.

    The journey takes around 30 minutes from the centre of Barcelona, with trains leaving every 30 minutes.
    A ten-journey ticket, which can be used by more than one person if travelling together, gives a 40% discount.

  • By Autobus

    Barcelona: SARBUS provides a bus service from Barcelona (St. Andreu Arenal/Fabra i Puig) to the UAB, with a bus leaving every 30 minutes. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. You can find more information by phoning +34 93 580 6700 or on the SARBUS website.

    Other towns: There are daily bus services from many towns, including Igualada, Badalona, Sabadell and Mataró. You can find information on timetables for these services on the following link

  • By Car:

    The easiest way to get to the UAB by road is to take the motorway. You can check the motorway exits on the following map.

    AP-7: direction Tarragona-Lleida, if travelling from the north; direction Girona, if travelling from Barcelona or the south.

    C-58 Barcelona-Sabadell-Terrassa.

    Several other roads connect Bellaterra with the surrounding towns and villages.

The CVC in the Campus

The CVC is in the Campus of UAB.

The UAB has two railway stations, FFCC (Catalan Railways) and RENFE (Spanish Railways).

In both cases, from Plaça de Catalunya to UAB, the train expends about 30 minutes.

There are also Sarbus's buses to arrive to the UAB from Barcelona in about 20 minutes.

By car, from Barcelona center to the UAB campus, there is about 15 km. See the map.

Apartments and Serhs Hotel Campus are located at Vila Universitaria. Both Vila Universitaria and the CVC are at the UAB campus, however they are at opposite borders of the campus.

The CVC is 20 minutes walking from the Vila Universitaria.

The UAB has its own free bus service connecting the main centers and faculties with the RENFE Cerdanyola-Universitat station and the Vila Uniersitaria.
